Sharia law has been in Europe for some time: let’s learn how to fight it here before in Kabul

With the blood still visible at Kabul airport, the usual ballet of distinctions has begun. The perpetrators of the massacre – we are told – do not represent true Islam at all, which in reality would be peaceful, enlightened and tolerant.

The writer thinks the time has come to put an end to these hypocritical fictions. The Islamic spirit is inherently obscurantist and not at all tolerant. Muslims, including the so-called "moderates", are pursuing a design of cultural hegemony that does not always resort to arms, but nonetheless aims at conquering Western countries from within. And by this I mean conquest of our minds and hearts.

Many are scandalized by the perplexity raised by the project to always build new mosques in European cities. But try to ask for reciprocity, to demand that at the same time permission be granted to build new churches, not in Afghanistan, I mean, but in nations that are theoretically allied to the West such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan.

A wall of denial immediately arises: they and we are not the same. A new mosque in Milan, Paris or London is a sacrosanct right. A new church in Riyadh, Islamabad or Doha is an intolerable offense to Islam.

How long will we be willing to put up with this incredible difference? We happily and unilaterally adopted multiculturalism, without asking – as was our right – for others to do it too.

The result is there for all to see. Whole neighborhoods of our metropolises are governed by Sharia law so much that, walking in certain areas of London, Paris and Brussels, one has the feeling of being suddenly transported to a completely different world.

The inhabitants live by scrupulously observing the laws and customs of the countries of origin, ignoring with the utmost tranquility what happens outside. And uncontrolled immigration favored by the do-gooders prevailing in certain circles has dramatically aggravated the situation.

Now it is understood that Islam is among us, and that you don't have to go to the Middle East to find it. It is everywhere, like a fish swimming in a climate of general lethargy perfectly at ease.

The novel "Submission" by Michel Houllebecq, which has caused so much scandal in the Western world, limits itself to making predictions that, given the current trend, could be realized in the near future. In short, we could find ourselves with an Islamic party in power, voted for the sake of quiet living and aspiring to the economic benefits it would offer.

Is this a mere dystopia? It depends. If we manage to wake up before the disaster there is some chance of salvation. Otherwise, the resignation, already perceptible in vast sectors of our society, will lead us into the black hole described by the French writer.

Immigrants have the right to retain their identity under certain conditions. They cannot pretend to live on islands that are completely unrelated to the territorial, social and cultural context that surrounds them. And yet this is exactly what happened without the authorities of the various Western States involved, even though perceiving the danger, preventing it from actually spreading.

In London there is no need to go to the reviled suburbs. It is enough to walk the very central Edgware Road, full of shops and luxury hotels, to feel in a Middle East in which Western culture is almost absent.

This has been allowed for decades, tolerating (in the worst sense of the word) that young people only attend Islamic schools and that many mosques become places where hatred is preached against any manifestation of diversity. Why, then, be surprised at the poisoned fruits that such blindness has produced?

What is so horrible about requiring by law that the descendants of immigrants be exposed from early childhood to the basics of Western culture? And is it really revolting to ask them, if they do not fully appreciate it, to return to their countries of origin where they can apply the dictates learned by preachers in mosques on a daily basis? For many this is intolerance but, in reality, it is simply common sense.

Only nations that have lost their identity can adopt multiculturalism in its worst sense, destined in the long run to cause the dissolution of that same identity. Unfortunately it is a very widespread trend. In the aforementioned neighborhoods, the Islamic cultural matrix is often experienced in such an exclusive way as to prevent dialogue with "others", ultimately leading the followers to believe that violence is the only tool that can be used to prevail. For a long time it was believed that the signs – although evident – were attributable to isolated cases, and the awakening was inevitably abrupt. The problem is to understand if we still have time to stem the phenomenon.

Who knows if the European Union (which many insist on confusing with Europe) will be able to develop a coherent strategy to face the emergency. All taken as it is by the discussions on the percentages of deficit overrun. In summary, tolerance is great but it cannot be entirely without limits. As is the case with multiculturalism, as long as it does not become a pure and simple "culture of surrender". And like pacifism, provided it is not one-sided by refusing to face the violence practiced by others. In Brussels it seems that the gravity of the events is not perceived. The EU is a Sleeping Beauty whose awakening will be entrusted to a prince more black than blue.
