"The summer season is upon us and in Italy an entire category has lost faith in the future, due to the question of the application of the Services Directive to maritime-state property concessions for tourist-recreational use, which has long thrown into chaos and in the uncertainty of the Italian seaside sector. At the end of 2020, Italy received a letter of formal notice from the EU Commission on law 145/2018, which extended the duration of the maritime-state property concessions until 2033 to give the Italian government the possibility to verify the conditions of applicability of the Services Directive, as indicated by the European Court of Justice. Italy responded and today an important space has opened up for conversation. We have confidence in the Draghi Government so that a solution can be found that takes into account the particularities of the Italian seaside sector, unique in Europe. May Commissioner Breton and the EU take a positive approach towards Italy, listen to the reasons for the extension of concessions until 2033: the life and future of an entire sector and of over 30 thousand companies are at stake, including many a family management ".
