Instructions for use of the cloaca

I see many willing Jean Valjeans wandering around in the sewer, with their burden of truth on their shoulders, and with their anxiety to spread the word (Ottavio, Sergio, etc.). Far be it from me to discourage them, given that the price to be paid for those who decide to choose the field in which to fight can be that of self-referentiality, that is, of talking to oneself, of not widening the circle of diffusion of the message, even more so if this is delivered, as we do here, to somewhat outdated platforms, which will probably soon be discontinued (posing a serious and expensive technical problem)! So excursions to other social media are welcome. However, if you really want to continue this wandering in the darkness and miasmas, allow me to give you some advice so that this wandering is fruitful with results, because from the way you are behaving I can take it for granted that it is not, and that it is actually damaging (in terms of what follows) not only me, but you too!

You've already damaged me enough by spamming the hashtag #goofynomics , and thus causing it to drop in the algorithm's ratings! However, I have broad shoulders (width directly proportional to the known vastness, yes, that one: don't make me be scurrilous)! However, for you, a thousand more followers can make the difference, they can mean doubling your audience. Allow me then to point out a fact that evidently escapes you.

The well-known billionaire did not buy the sewer so that we could wallow freely and happily in the name of frispìc ! He did it to make money. He makes this money either with subscription forms that allow you to have some privileges, or with advertising. Advertising has a greater chance of producing a return the longer users stay on the platform. It follows that users who:

1) encourage other users to stay on the platform by posting interesting content, and, above all:

2) they do not encourage users to leave the platform by clicking on links that lead outside.

Simple, right?

It follows, for example, that by behaving like this :

Ottavio does more harm to himself than it does me any good, simply because, by providing his followers with a link, he signals to the platform that he is an exit point, a flaw that must be plugged in some way, caulking it with the pitch of oblivion and darkness.

So how can you attract the cesspit of the sewer to a third-party site without risking being incinerated by the algorithm?

The answer should be obvious: you need to qualify as users who generate and retain traffic.

Let's start with "hold".

If you see something you like here, I suggest a three-step strategy: instead of a single tweet, make a thread of at least three tweets. In the first you will perhaps put a graphic, because it captures attention (I will try to make them more self-contained and explicit, so that they are engaging), with a short caption. In the second place a short textual explanation. Finally, in the third, put a little more text (but maybe not) and the link to the outside (i.e. to the Debate).

Do you want an example?

First tweet:

It is not true that Germany is the locomotive of the Eurozone: German growth has always been lower than average except in the most acute phase of the crisis.

Second tweet (without image, in response to the first):

According to Eurostat data, in the period from 1996 to 2024 Germany's average growth rate was 1.2%, compared to 1.6% in the 27-member European Union. This is despite the fact that during the financial crisis Germany took advantage of aid it did not need.

Third tweet (optional, without image, in response to the second):

The so-called capital key criterion in fact meant that the ECB purchased more German bonds than bonds from other countries, not because Germany needed help more, but because it had a greater share in the ECB's capital.

Fourth tweet (conclusive, with link, in response to the penultimate one which will be the second if you have placed two and the third if you have placed three):

This disproportionate aid, not the strength of its economy, allowed Germany to briefly surpass average European growth. For further information: https://goofynomics.blogspot.com/2025/02/la-locomotiva-tedesca.html.

Clarifications

(… because Jean Valjean is as cunning as a deer, otherwise he wouldn't have ended up in penal servitude …)

First: in your defence, it is obvious that starting from the post cited it would have been difficult for some to articulate a similar thread, because, for example, I had not included the average growth in the text, I had not mentioned the capital key , etc. Precisely for this reason, among other things, this post is quite repulsive and there is little point in quoting it (sorry, Ottavio): it does not provide further information than the simple graph and does not help to understand the graph. So I can be less cryptic in writing, but you must be more tactical in choosing what to enhance about this blog, because we obviously have the problem that the sewer has (retaining users), and to solve it we must offer added value. There are hundreds of posts with engaging graphics and full explanations that you can copy and paste, or rather elaborate, into a mini- thread . Everything written here is relevant, more and more every day. Why choose less current things? It goes without saying that not all the information in the thread has to come from a single post!

Second: when you paste a link from blogspot remove the final part ?m=1:

https://goofynomics.blogspot.com/2025/02/la-locomotiva-tedesca.html?m=1

and simply enter:

https://goofynomics.blogspot.com/2025/02/la-locomotiva-tedesca.html

so the post won't be forced to adapt to mobile viewing and on PC you won't see similar rubbish:

which among other things eliminates the sidebar indicating the other posts, i.e. a key element to arouse the curiosity of a potential traveller.

Third: if a thread is particularly good for you, consider pinning it as a pinned tweet. By pinning a tweet you can do wonders in terms of visibility:

(but I remain humble…), and the algorithm will obviously take this into account and reward you.

Conclusions

As an ecclesiarch, I cannot do more than this to help you. It's up to you to have fun. If you do it thoughtfully I'm sure you will see results.

Try it (without haste) and let me know. And in any case, if you really can't attract readers, at least try not to repel them…
