The main contradiction
Sorry, the Carnation Revolution is not archived, so a footnote needs to be added.
Today, it seems everyone agrees that the "Queen's conspiracy" is a hoax, or rather, a non-story. It was the sovereign people who wanted to revert to a sort of absolute monarchy, a system in which the three powers are combined into a legibus soluta entity to which Parliament cannot act as a counterweight, subject as it is to the incursions of the judiciary (who do we have at the top of its self-governing body?) due to the abolition of immunity, and to blackmail by the government or the supreme leadership itself due to the abolition of life pensions. The logic of the world to which Parliament's euthanasia has delivered us may have many flaws, but certainly not that of opacity! Sovereignty is an incompressible something, for the simple fact that since decisions must be made, someone must make them (that is, someone must exercise sovereignty), and if the people decide, more or less consciously, that their direct representatives should not (or cannot) do it, someone else will.
It is therefore not particularly useful to talk about "conspiracies": it distracts from a reflection on the nature of the problem, which lies not in a perversion of the system, but in the structure of the system, of the so-called "Second Republic".
With this premise, today the "good" commentators explain to us that the polemical target of our Ravaillac from the ghetto would have been Schlein rather than Meloni, in the sense that the "centrist list" (which is not a parquet) would be first and foremost the instrument with which the "left-wing Christian Democrat" nucleus would like to regain control of the PD to remove it from a leadership deemed ineffective, because all civil rights and distinctive, but visibly incapable of proposing a social alternative.
Well, yes, there it is!
I too know some provincial Christian Democrats, lords of territory and preferences, whose rainbows make them bubble. When they bray nonsense about "communism," besides committing the same mistake as the left-wing idiots who fight anti-fascism in the absence of fascism, they also commit the mistake of interpreting the Democratic Party as a "post-communist" party, when in reality it is a "post-Christian Democrat" party. Try reading it that way for a moment: you'll connect many dots and explain many mysteries, starting with the incredible institutional roots of the heirs of a party that was in opposition for decades (the PCI): it's because they are actually the heirs of a party that has always been in power (the DC).
In this sense, therefore, the desire for a "centrist list" is even more incomprehensible and even less decisive. The "list" already exists, and it's the Democratic Party. If it can't say anything centrist, it's simply because it's prevented from doing so by its pro-European stance, which contradicts not only the defense of labor (since the "ever closer" and "highly competitive" union inevitably leads to wage deflation), but also those Catholic values that inspire provincial Christian Democrats, starting with the family (which can't be built without money), moving on to Christian roots (which hinder the euthanasia-driven achievement of the sustainability of social security systems), and finally arriving at a certain social doctrine of the Church (just think of how the so-called Europe has dismantled and reformed institutions like cooperative banks and credit unions, which emanated from that doctrine).
Which, if anything, makes the “listone” solution to the problem of the center-right's prevalence even more grotesque.
In Europe (to call it what they call it), more precisely in the Eurozone, there is no room for a left that democratically defends labor. There is, at most, room for a left that violently defends something else, and therefore there is no room for the "listone."
That's all, folks!
(… note well: this is a scientific post, for Popperians passing through, because it is falsifiable. Obviously, if in 2027 or 2032 the Great Center swallows up the abstentionists, perhaps under the guidance of its new Joan of Arc, the pleasant Salis, we will meet again here and I will make amends. Otherwise it will be QED, as has already been the case so many times… )
