Because the Recovery Plan will electrify Italy

Because the Recovery Plan will electrify Italy

Who was there and what was said at the Axpo green energy solutions talks.

The future of energy is full of opportunities linked to green, energy efficiency, the transition to renewables and sustainability that sees electric mobility in strong growth. In this context, the challenge of companies and institutions is to be able to fully grasp the great challenge for the development of industry and the economy.

This was discussed during the Axpo green energy solutions talks, the event created to take stock of the transformation in the world of energy.

Organized by Axpo Italia, one of the major players with a presence along the entire energy chain, third in Italy in the free market, it saw the participation of representatives of institutions and guests from the world of industry and business to stimulate comparison and in-depth study of highly topical issues, including opportunities related to energy efficiency with a focus on the tax benefits provided by the Ecobonus and the so-called Superbonus.

DE MARCHI (AXPO): ENERGY IS NOW A TREND TOPIC

Axpo energy talks was born a few months ago when we didn't think we would witness what has happened in the last few weeks: never before has we heard about energy as in recent months, a word that has become a trend, a cool topic. You can not go back. In Italy in the last decades a lot has been done in the energy transition and today almost all production from traditional sources takes place through gas which reduces pollutants and guarantees flexibility. We are talking about a path from which there will be no turning back but the system is complex and must be managed, the words that have been heard in recent days about the objectives are welcome even if it is not easy then to pass from words to deeds ", said Simone De Marchi, CEO of Axpo Italy, opening the webinar the Axpo green energy solutions talks.

“The sector is complex and there are no simple solutions. I would like to quote a passage by Draghi on a fundamental point. Incentives have come in abundance and have not always been managed correctly. For years we will still have subsidies that will weigh on consumers but when expansionary policies are made to incentivize investments that create demand, the situation changes radically from what we have experienced so far. The Conto Energia we all know how much positive it has brought but also negative for development: proof of this is that with the end of the fourth energy account, renewables have had a setback in Italy but not in Europe. At the moment – added De Marchi – the transition serves to combine traditional resources in a smart way with renewable resources. What happened in Texas happened because the network had not been properly maintained. Between 7 and 8 January what happened in Texas could also happen in Europe, but this implies that the energy transition must be managed adequately bearing in mind that the grid is the most at risk. It is not only politics that must do its part, but also companies. This is why Axpo has launched a green route to propose to companies to accompany them on a path of sustainability. Everything that is green sustainability is essential ".

Turning to the Recovery Plan, De Marchi recalled that most of the resources will go to the Green Revolution and Energy Transition macro-sector, “a large umbrella which includes the extension of the super bonus, the growth of renewables, sustainable mobility and the circular economy. Being ready by seizing the opportunities and maximizing their effects on the future is a challenge and a responsibility that concerns everyone. Within this evolutionary framework, Axpo Italia has chosen to redesign its structure by literally putting energy trading activities at the heart of the company, in the new headquarters in Genoa, strengthened by the experience acquired at European level, which makes us one of the Italian operators more oriented to this activity. We have also developed a strategy to increase the role played by renewable sources across the business, creating highly innovative tools. Central to this strategy are the PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements), or long-term contracts for the supply of energy from renewable sources, which allow certainty in the financial planning of projects for the construction of large wind and solar plants ".

MORETTO (BPM): EU CLIMATE REGULATION HAS USEFUL REFERENCES TO REACH THE 2030 GOALS

"The European legislation – commented Andrea Del Moretto, Banco Bpm Origination Manager – and the related Regulation on the governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action, highlighted a series of useful references for achieving this, in line with the 2030 objectives, of an effective and transparent European system. An issue very dear to Banco Bpm which, among other things, has entered the world of Superbonus 110% by focusing on technological innovation, partnerships with leading operators in the sector and training; Banco BPM's offer stands out for its high digitization profile. Banco BPM has benefited from its consolidated experience in the purchase of tax credits and towards the Public Administration with the aim of making this know-how available to its customers ".

CASTOLDI (IRENE): SUPERBONUS OPPORTUNITY FOR ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY

“The superbonus 110 represents a real and unmissable opportunity for the economic and social development of the country of Italy. The interventions must have high profile connotations and quality standards such as to be able to offer the legislator useful elements for an extension of the incentive such as to make it structural and such as to make it a driving force for the growth of an entire supply chain that today represents the the country's most important economic engine. Great attention and extreme correctness will be needed in applying the superbonus ”, highlighted Manuel Castoldi, president of Rete Irene.

BRACCO (TAX AND LAW FIRM): BONUSES NEED A SIMPLIFICATION AND A RATIONALIZATION

Important implications also on the taxation issue, with respect to which simplification is urgently needed: “Building bonuses are an important tool for sustainable development in our country in line with the provisions at European level. We now need their serious simplification and rationalization with a long-term perspective that allows our economy to run hand in hand with sustainability ”commented Pietro Bracco, Chartered Accountant and Statutory Auditor, AndPartners Tax and Law Firm.

GUERRIERO (START MAGAZINE) PRESENTED THE WHITE PAPER ON ELECTRIC MOBILITY

The Axpo green energy solutions talks were also an opportunity to take stock of sustainable mobility and its upcoming and important developments. The starting scenario, the current one, was analyzed in the new edition of the White Paper on electric mobility created by Axpo in collaboration with Start Magazine and presented during the talks. “This new edition of the White Paper on electric mobility presents an element of novelty – comments Michele Guerriero, editorial director of Start Magazine who drafted the book in collaboration with Axpo Italia. For the first time we are faced with a phenomenon, that of the electric car, which is becoming a real market option. We are no longer in the presence of a choice of a small minority, but we can begin to look at this new element as a real industrial factor. There is a long way to go, however, starting with the implementation of the charging infrastructure ". On this point, “as a country we see just over 19,000 recharging points but we also see an appeal from Acea to proceed in this direction if we want to implement the sale of electric cars and decarbonise the transport sector. In short – he concluded – we are certainly at a point of transition towards 2030 and in this photograph which is the white paper, we grasp an intermediate step and if everyone collaborates, the mobility sector can experience an important moment but only if everyone collaborates ".

SORDELLI (VOLKSWAGEN): THE OBJECTIVE IS TO MAKE E-MOBILITY ACCESSIBLE TO ALL

The prospects for growth are many and confirmation comes from Stefano Sordelli, Future Mobility Director of Volkswagen Group Italia: “For the Volkswagen Group the future is electric. This is not a bet, but a well-considered choice and a technology that represents the best option, in terms of efficiency and sustainability, to reach climate targets. The goal is to make e-mobility accessible to everyone, but to do so it is not enough to focus on the product: teamwork is needed, with the collaboration of all the players involved, for constant and structured growth, which takes into account all the necessary aspects, from institutional support, to charging infrastructures, up to clear communication ". "If we look at the numbers of electric mobility, cars have reached a share of 2.4% on the Italian market, surpassing even the sales of CNG ones, this is to say the speed with which things are changing".

GRAZIOLI (ZIG ZAG): THE CONTRIBUTION OF SHARING IS FUNDAMENTAL

The event addressed the issue of sharing with the important contribution of Zig Zag Sharing "We plan to continue investing in Italy on green mobility that we believe is fundamental for the sustainable development of the country – commented Emanuele Grazioli, co-founder of Zig Zag Sharing -. In order to continue to grow in Italy and constantly increase the number of potential users, partnerships, such as the one with the Axpo Italia brand, Pulsee, are absolutely crucial and we are committed to developing others in the coming months ”. Grazioli then highlighted how the real change was to make people understand the convenience and savings of sharing mobility: "We started from Rome and we realized that the integration between the public and private transport sectors creates an important synergy ".

CAMPORA (COUNCILOR FOR TRANSPORT OF GENOA): THE REVOLUTION OF URBAN MOBILITY GOES ON

“The urban mobility revolution is proceeding – underlined Matteo Campora, Councilor for Transport, Integrated Mobility, Environment, Waste, Animals, Energy of the Municipality of Genoa -. The project of the four axes of force has made a fundamental and further step forward with the assignment of the final design, which will allow us to decline the project in all its aspects such as paths, technologies and interchange parking lots. The four axes of strength, together with the new metro sections and the projects presented at MIT, will give us back a Genoa with a new sustainable, zero-impact transport system, with the redevelopment of important city streets and with better services for citizens. The goal remains that of having a fully electric public service by 2025. Of course – he added – there is an issue that must be addressed, that of giving answers also on the number of vehicles that can circulate in the city. For example, we have decided not to leave with electric scooters ".

MARCOZZI (MOTUS-E): REMODULATE THE PNRR BETWEEN ELECTRIC MOBILITY

“In cities there is no alternative to electric – warned Dino Marcozzi, general secretary of Motus-E -. The growth in registrations of electric vehicles is impressive despite the lockdown but we need to push as much as possible on the charging infrastructure. We have a lot of points, but they need to be increased and distributed in the best possible way. Electric mobility is the present and an opportunity that we cannot miss as a country ". But there are some difficulties: “It is clear, just think that in a country like ours where the average time to install columns is over a year. If you live in Amsterdam with a parking space in front of the house and ask the municipality to install it, the local company is obliged to do so in 90 days. Our growth trends tell us that a special policy could help the transition to electric mobility. I'll give you an example: of the 29 billion non-repayable funds of Germany's NRP they give 8 billion to electric mobility, a sign that they are aiming for it despite being ahead. We too have proposed to reshape the NRP in this sense with concrete proposals ”.

GARBERO (AXPO): WE EXPECT AN INCREASE IN THE COLUMNS

Marco Garbero, general manager of Axpo Energy Solutions Italia, the Axpo Group company specializing in energy efficiency, distributed generation and e-mobility added: "In addition to the energy upgrading of buildings, the 110% Ecobonus will be an opportunity for the development of sustainable mobility. In fact, we expect a significant increase in the charging columns for electric vehicles installed in the parking lots of condominiums. Aesi is a company that, just over two years after its establishment, already has experience on over 200 efficiency projects and is working intensively on new government measures that will give further impetus to the sector, in addition to having already concluded the first two at the end of 2020 interventions with the new Ecobonus at 110% ".
