Géant, a pan-European provider of networks and services for research and education, has in fact selected Tim's subsidiary as the Ocre Cloud Framework provider.
Launched in February 2019, the Open Clouds for Research Environments (Ocre) project launched a tender to accelerate cloud adoption in the European scientific community.

WHAT IS THE OCRE PROJECT
The Ocre project is funded by the EU: the European Commission has allocated 9.5 million euros. To simplify the process of identifying and selecting suppliers, the project uses the pan-European Géant Framework Agreement which interconnects 38 national research and education institutions.
The consortium led by Géant also includes Cern, Rhea and Trust-IT.
Through a series of framework agreements with cloud service providers, the Ocre Cloud Framework offers a standard contractual vehicle to simplify the purchase of these solutions by more than 10,000 research and education institutions.
THE 27 COUNTRIES WHERE THE TIM SUBSIDIARY WILL OPERATE
With a public tender concluded at the end of 2020, Sparkle was accredited in 27 European countries: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, France, Georgia, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta , Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and Hungary.

SPARKLE WILL PROVIDE GOOGLE CLOUD BASED SOLUTIONS
Already an accredited supplier of Géant from 2016 to 2020, with this new agreement Sparkle confirms its commitment to offer the best cloud solutions to the education and research sector, reducing the costs and complexity of the transition to the cloud. Sparkle's multicloud offer makes it possible to combine multiple cloud services – private, public and on premise – and manage them with a single control platform. Additionally, customers can benefit from private, high-speed, and secure connections between their on-premise infrastructures and leading cloud providers.
Under the agreement, Sparkle will offer turnkey solutions based on Google Cloud technologies and professional services to accompany research institutions in their migration to the cloud.
NO MORE AMAZON WEB SERVICES LIKE IN THE FIRST PHASE
Tim's subsidiary was already selected in 2019 for the first phase of the Ocre program to offer European researchers access to Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services. The latter is the cloud division of Amazon, a leader in the cloud sector with a market share of 45% in 2019.
But in November 2019 Tim signed a memorandum of understanding with Google Cloud, for the creation of innovative public, private and hybrid cloud services. Under the agreement, the two companies will implement joint go-to-market initiatives to bring cloud services to Italian businesses .

Furthermore, as specified by the widespread note, the Sparkle competence center is enriched by the experience of Noovle, Tim's new company , which will deal with Cloud and edge computing. The company will provide multicloud services and solutions.
