The Italia Cloud Consortium is born to apply for the National Cloud.
After the first move of the Almaviva-Aruba tandem , on 5 August also the newly established Consorzio Italia Cloud presented to the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transition (MITD) an expression of interest for the creation and management of the National Strategic Pole (Psn ).
This infrastructure will have to host the cloud of the Public Administration, a project financed by the PNRR with 900 million.
Consorzio Italia Cloud brings together Italian companies active in the Cloud Computing sector: Seeweb, Netalia, Sourcesense, Infordata, Babyloncloud, Eht.
The Consortium promotes an innovative and open model that accompanies the Public Administration in the digitization process with a multicloud approach, avoiding the technological lock-in of global hyperscalers, in a framework of safe and resilient use of national technologies and skills from the sectors of industry and research, as foreseen in the NRP.
So far there were two self-sufficient consortiums ready to apply for the project for the development of the cloud infrastructure located on the national territory: the Aruba-Almaviva duo and the Cdp quartet, Sogei, Tim, Leonardo.

THE MEMBERS OF THE ITALIA CLOUD CONSORTIUM
As we said, the following are part of the Italia Cloud Consortium: Seeweb, cloud computing provider; Sourcesense, an innovative SME operating in the IT sector on the Italian and English markets and leader in cloud-native solutions based on “Open Source” technologies; Infordata, active in the ICT sector; Babylon Cloud, startup focused on cloud storage technology; the Consorzio Stabile in the sector of Ict Eht services and the national public cloud provider Netalia.
THE SUMMIT
The Board of Directors will remain in office until December 31, 2023.
THE PROPOSAL
The Italia Cloud Consortium proposes a PSN management and development model that enhances the skills and infrastructures of Italian public and private operators already present and operating in the area in order to support an effective digitalization process in the public sector, in line with the provisions by the Pnrr, able to protect citizens' freedoms through the management of data and aspects of security and privacy, digital sovereignty, interoperability, transparency and efficient use of resources without any technological dependence.
THE NSP PROSPECTED BY MITD
As explained by the focus on the National Strategic Pole, published on the Mitd website last July 9 : the new PSN will have to deal with "migrating the data and services of the administrations without alteration and enabling private cloud services, hybrid cloud in IaaS and PaaS, also by exploiting scalable technologies "but also" to comply with European provisions on data localization and processing and to guarantee suitable solutions to solve the legal problems posed by the extraterritorial application of the legislation of non-European Union countries ".
IN LINE WITH TECHNICAL STANDARDS
Furthermore, the Italia Cloud Consortium welcomes the high-level objectives that the Mitd has set in place and is ready to implement them, through the implementation of the technical service standards that the new instituting law assigns to the nascent National Cybersecurity Agency (Acn) .
THE ALLIANCES SET UP SO FAR FOR CLOUD PA
The Hub will in fact be a new infrastructure that will be managed by an economic operator selected through the launch of a public-private partnership on the initiative of a proponent entity (the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, controlled by the Ministry of Economy) and therefore not through a competition, as many insiders thought given that until recently the government had not indicated the way of a public-private partnership.
