Because Italy is a democracy in name and not in fact

In this cool piece, I would like to express what many of you, like me, are feeling at skin: Italy is a democracy in form, in appearance, but in fact it is not. In the sense that the wishes of the Italians, their wishes for the future, their political expression, are completely ignored. It is true, we vote several times for various institutions, the most varied, from the European Parliament, to the national one, to local administrations, but in the end there is the clear feeling that, whatever you vote for, decisions will still be taken elsewhere, by "Others", by the "Head of Cabinet", by the "Secretary", by the "Judge", who applies the law according to his feelings, but never according to his own will. Tangibly, in 2018 the elections had expressed a majority bordering on the revolutionary: in the end it was the most counter-revolutionary and repressive of the rights of freedoms ever seen in the last 30 years. Have they ever asked you for your opinion on Maastricht and its consequences? No and they will never ask you. Everything is decided. When an attempt was made to appoint a non-Eurosceptic minister, but with a clear vision of the problems of the European economy, a strong and unresponsive power to the people rejected and bent him. No one among the so-called democratic powers has done anything.

The causes are many, the solutions much less. Among the first we can list:

  • partisan information, paid for by the state, which gives a distorted but unified vision of reality. Several times we have spoken of the 300 million of the state that go to the press, we have RAI which belongs to the state and Mediaset which is parastatal. There is no free information in Italy outside of a few blogs. Instead, there are countless thugs on social media;
  • the power of blackmail by hidden bodies insinuated into the state. Today the weather informs us of how the whole Morisi operation, according to Palamara, was just another chapter in the action of that "System" that he knows well, because he helped to create it, at least from the side of the judiciary. In the specific case Palamara accuses the power, granted by Renzi to the investigators, to inform not only the prosecutors of the investigations, but also the superiors in rank. So if a lieutenant of the carabinieri investigates a politician, perhaps for a secondary fact, the colonel will know, then the general, then the whole hierarchical structure. A very dangerous concentration of knowledge and therefore of power;
  • the fact that by now there are too many things that are taken for granted and immutable, not tangible by any popular decision. Euro, NATO, EU, taxes, even secondary things like the Green Pass are fixed points, on which it is almost forbidden to express oneself. Referendums cannot be held, it is not even possible to make a real opposition, there can be no political discussion, perhaps even in order to confirm the choices. Virtually a democracy in which almost nothing is decided in a democratic way. Maybe not even the color of the train cars.

What to do? Maybe we all leave, but many could not. Many have closed themselves up in their cocoons, but sooner or later that too will be thrown into the boiling water of the economic crisis, a bit like what happened to silkworms. Perhaps something new would be needed, starting from the awareness that there is no true democracy and that it must be created from nothing. Perhaps.
