Obviously, the book will represent a much more substantial dossier than these few lines, but in the meantime, let's try to write down some considerations for future reference. Yesterday we took a step back of almost a hundred years in the conquests of a century (of battles) that arose on the ruins of a dictatorship. In summary, we woke up in a place where – to exercise the inviolable right to work – it is necessary to show a card like non-Aryans in the twenty years. Furthermore, for a fee, unless you undergo a non-compulsory experimental health treatment. Among other things, in the absence of the only two requirements touted: a pandemic emergency and an insufficiently extensive vaccination campaign.

Well, all this took place without an army in the streets, without elections characterized by fraud or violence, without intimidation. So, first point: the return to fascism is not a "possible" and "feared" eventuality, but a "certain" and "accepted" fact at the popular level. Only Italian creativity could patent the first "consenting" and "do it yourself" dictatorship, so to speak, of human history. Fortunately, however, there are exceptions; and how: millions of citizens still evading the vaccine conscription, thousands of people in the streets.

Here, however, the second astonishing fact concerning the national press must be recorded. In a normal country, it would give ample space to protests, it would cry out to the danger at the gates, especially with a fascist-phobic intellectual class like ours. But no. Most newspapers (with a couple of isolated exceptions) are happy and their editors polish their pens as satisfied as turkeys waiting for the oven. Scattered titles of October 16, 2021: "Green pass, Italy does not stop" (Corriere della Sera), "The G-day passes the first test" (Repubblica), "Italy who works wins" (Libero), "Italy of the green pass starts again" (Il Messaggero), "Few inconveniences, Italy has not stopped" (Il Resto de Carlino), "Sì pass, la vera Italia" (Il Mattino), "Italy it is yes pass ”(Future).

At least, in the days of the good soul, the single party in power needed the Minculpop, the tissue papers, the liberticidal laws to obtain obedience. Today, the media do it all by themselves. Again: the first case in the world of democratic euthanasia greeted with joy by the so-called "watchdogs of democracy". Then there is the last extraordinary aspect worthy of a chapter of its own. A single newspaper headlines, in full box, against the fascist danger: "Now it is always, never again fascism". And it is the communist sheet "Il Manifesto". But if a little hope sprouts in your heart, abandon it. We have the year with the fascism of 1921, not with that of 2021. They practically broke the news with just a century of delay. If anyone ever writes the aforementioned book, they could call it “Italy's Sense for Democracy”. Or: "Italy: a democracy that makes sense". It sounds even better.
