The five electric cars on sale in Italy with the lowest cost per km of autonomy

Electric cars are increasingly popular in Italy, thanks to the environmental, economic and technological advantages they offer, but what are the best options for those who want to buy an electric car in 2023? In this article we present a ranking of electric cars for sale in Italy in 2023 with the best price/range ratio per single charge in the urban cycle.

Why this choice? Because the urban cycle, in the electric sector, often guarantees better autonomy and the EV car appears more consistent with this context where recharging points are more abundant. Furthermore, we have parameterized everything to autonomy because, let's face it, it is at this moment the main feature that interests buyers. Here we try to show how much each kilometer of range costs. The price is current (hopefully… web sources), net of contributions.

The ranking is based on official data provided by car manufacturers and takes into account the list price and the declared range according to the WLTP cycle. The ranking starts from those with the highest ratio, i.e. the cars that offer the most kilometers for every euro spent.

1. Dacia Spring . The Dacia Spring is the Romanian brand's first electric car, and it's also the cheapest on the Italian market. It is a five-door city car with four seats, 3.73 meters long and 1.62 meters wide. It has a 33 kW (45 HP) electric motor and a 26.8 kWh battery which guarantees a range of 230 km in an urban cycle. The list price is 16,900 euros, but with state incentives you can only pay 9,900 euros. The price/range ratio is therefore 43 euros/km.

2. Fiat 500e . The Fiat 500e is the electric version of the historic Italian city car, which is completely renewed in terms of design and technology. It has two battery variants: a 23.8 kWh one which allows it to travel 185 km in an urban cycle, and a 42 kWh one which allows it to reach 320 km. The electric motor has a power of 87 kW (118 HP) and a torque of 220 Nm. The list price starts at 19,900 euros for the version with a small battery and from 24,900 euros for the one with a large battery, but with the incentives you can save up to 6,000 euros. The price/range ratio is therefore 54 euros/km for the version with a small battery and 58 euros/km for the one with a large battery.

3.Renault Zoe . The Renault Zoe is one of the best-selling electric cars in Europe, thanks to its balance of performance, space and cost. It has a 52 kWh battery which ensures a range of 395 km in an urban cycle, and an 80 kW (109 HP) or 100 kW (136 HP) electric motor depending on the version. The list price starts at 26,650 euros for the version with a less powerful engine and from 28,150 euros for the one with a more powerful engine, but with the incentives it can be lowered to 20,650 euros or 22,150 euros. The price/range ratio is therefore 52 euros/km for the version with a less powerful engine and 56 euros/km for the one with a more powerful engine.

4. Hyundai Kona Electric . The Hyundai Kona Electric is a compact electric SUV that offers excellent autonomy and good technological equipment. It has two battery options: a 39 kWh one which allows it to travel 305 km in an urban cycle, and a 64 kWh one which allows it to reach 484 km. The electric motor has an output of 100 kW (136 HP) or 150 kW (204 HP) depending on the battery chosen. List price starts at approx
36,750 euros for the version with small battery and approx
39,500 euros for the one with a large battery, but with the incentives you can get a discount of up to 6,000 euros. The price/range ratio is therefore 61 euros/km for the version with a small battery and 65 euros/km for the one with a large battery.

5.Peugeot e-308 . The Peugeot e-308 is the electric version of the new generation of the French compact sedan, which will also debut in the SW version in 2023. It has a 60 kWh battery which guarantees a range of 360 km in an urban cycle, and a 100 kW (136 HP) electric motor and 260 Nm of torque. The list price has not yet been communicated, but it is estimated to be around 35,000 euros, from which state incentives can be subtracted. The price/range ratio is therefore around 65 euros/km.

These are the five electric cars with the best price/range ratio for sale in Italy in 2023, according to official data from car manufacturers. Of course, there are other factors to consider when choosing an electric car, such as design, space, safety, technology, charging times and infrastructure availability. Furthermore, it must be taken into account that prices and ranges may vary depending on driving conditions, climate and battery wear. For this reason, we advise you to inform yourself well before buying an electric car and to compare the different offers available on the market.
