I told you it was going to happen. It was clear that that was the intention. Today it happened. Youtube has closed Byoblu . He removed 14 years of content in a single instant, including many of the highest level, created together with magistrates, presidents of the Constitutional Court, intellectuals, philosophers, economists, politicians, lawyers, scientists … An iridescent photograph of the transformations that have taken place in society for 14 years now, seen through the eyes of citizens and not with those of the media.

They closed Byoblu and today, frankly, I don't even know what to tell you. I hardly even want to write, such is the bitterness. I have always fought without sparing myself, but that channel represented in a certain sense my whole life. I still remember the party for the first hundred thousand members, and I still jealously guard the placard for the first hundred thousand.

What have we done? Have we killed, kidnapped, blackmailed, threatened? No. Our fault is this obsession with wanting to let ordinary citizens speak, with showing the news also from another point of view, with giving a stage also to ideas that do not exist for the media, but which are widely spread and in my opinion have full right of representation. In a world of photographers who retouch images to adapt them to the tastes of power, here the shots are published as they are, and that's it.

The facts: in December they obscured the filming of a demonstration in the square in Cesena, which had not even been published! They were uploaded for internal evaluation and the title was "DO NOT PUBLISH". In January, they removed an edition of Byoblu24's TG where we explained what a leading British Medical Journal columnist had said. They later removed an interview made five months earlier to a Senior Scientist from the University of Siena, just because he talked about Vitamin C. Then they removed another segment of a street demonstration, this time in Milan, also not intended for published and unpublished . Immediately after that, they demonetized the channel and removed nearly 5,000 legitimately conquered subscribers . Finally, today, finding nothing better to cling to, they removed a video from last September 2020, made during another street demonstration, in which the Pan-African activist Mohamed Konare spoke. He had been there for almost seven months , covered by his good news right: who could he bother? Does it make sense to shut down a channel seven months later , or is it not rather a ferocious persecution of a newspaper duly registered in court for not following the editorial line dictated by others?

We are all aware of the dark times we are going through. Times in which the rights built up over decades of struggles are evaporating under the weight of an oppressive and violent cloak, garrisoned by the new defenders of the unique and indisputable truth. Byoblu is one of the few pockets of diehards who still resist the desire for uniformity of power.

At the end of last year we made promises to you: a market for your economy (and it's almost ready), an ethical advertising concessionaire (we are still behind, because in this country as you can imagine it is very complicated), and a channel only national on digital terrestrial , in order to respond to this blatant injustice by arriving directly in the homes of all Italians.

On this last point I had something new to give you these days. I wanted to explain it to you well, believe me, but now there is no more time: this abuse is such as to require an immediate decision.

We have the opportunity to acquire a national channel on digital terrestrial , in low numbers, at an extremely convenient figure compared to its market value. We are talking about about 120 thousand euros plus UVA. Broadcasting could cost us, every month, about 30 thousand euros, which if you think about it is just under double what it costs us now to deliver the signal in just five regions. The diffusion of the signal, being on a national scale, would be more stable and more widespread. The decision must be made within the first few days of April.

This is not a high figure: in recent months you have shown that citizens are ready for critical mass and can deploy important resources with little effort.

I am about to try: Citizens' TV must establish itself as an unavoidable reality in the panorama of the Italian media: we must become a strong information hub, which can no longer be ignored and with which it is necessary to confront. Closing a Youtube channel is all too easy, and I do not think that giving it a win in this way does justice to the quality of the ideas we carry out together with all the guests and all the citizens who also participate in our news every day.

The decision is yours. If we manage to reach the necessary figure by April 10, we will buy the single national channel and within the following 15 days we will start broadcasting in all homes. Otherwise we will evaluate what to do, all together, like a big family. The family of citizens who are still free, who want to stay free.
