Asymptomatic, what the latest circular from the Ministry of Health says

Asymptomatic, what the latest circular from the Ministry of Health says

The days of isolation for asymptomatic positives are reduced (with some exceptions), even in the absence of a negative swab. Here are the times and how the indications of the Ministry of Health on the management of the pandemic change

Asymptomatics will no longer need a negative swab to get out of the isolation imposed by Covid. This was established by the latest circular from the Ministry of Health signed by the director of Prevention, Giovanni Rezza, and sent yesterday to the Regions.

FROM ANXIETY FOR A NEW VARIANT TO THE RELEASE OF THE RESTRICTIONS

Only a few days ago the document "Interventions in place for the management of the circulation of Sars-CoV-2 in the 2022-2023 winter season", signed by Rezza and the director of Programming, Stefano Lorusso, defined the scenario of the pandemic as "unpredictable" and believed that Italy should "prepare to face a winter in which an increased welfare impact could be observed attributable to various acute respiratory diseases, first of all influenza, and to the possible circulation of new variants of Sars-CoV-2, determined also from individual behaviors and the immune status of the population”.

But despite the alarm of the last few days about the surge in cases in China and the fear of the arrival of a new variant , another of the restrictions falls because, this is the reasoning of the executive, the epidemic curve continues to decline, the hospital numbers are below concern levels and from the sequencing of passengers who tested positive arriving from China, no viral strains were found other than those already present in Italy.

THE ASYMPTOMATICS

The latest circular on the new methods of isolation distinguishes between confirmed cases and close contacts. For people who have tested positive for Covid but who have always been asymptomatic and those who have not had symptoms for at least 2 days, "the isolation can end 5 days after the first positive test or the appearance of symptoms, regardless of whether the test is carried out antigenic or molecular”.

For cases that have always been asymptomatic, isolation may end even before 5 days if an antigen or molecular test carried out at a health facility/pharmacy is negative.

THE IMMUNODEPRESSED

The case of immunosuppressed people is a little different, as isolation can end after a minimum period of 5 days, but always necessarily following an antigen or molecular test with a negative result.

THE HEALTHCARE OPERATORS

Even healthcare workers, if asymptomatic for at least 2 days, will still have to test negative for an antigen or molecular test to end the isolation.

WHO COMES FROM CHINA

Exceptional size for those arriving in Italy from the People's Republic of China. In this case, people who entered our country in the 7 days preceding the first positive test will be able to end isolation after a minimum period of 5 days from the first positive test, if they have been asymptomatic for at least 2 days and negative for an antigen test or molecular.

THE RULE THAT APPLIES TO EVERYONE

Regardless of the reduction in isolation times and the fact that in most cases a negative swab is no longer required, "at the end of isolation, the use of FFP2 type respiratory protective devices is mandatory up to 10th day from the onset of symptoms or from the first positive test (in the case of asymptomatic), and it is in any case recommended to avoid high-risk people and/or crowded environments. These precautions can be discontinued in the event of a negative antigen or molecular test.

CLOSE CONTACTS

People who have had close contact with positive subjects will have to respect the self-surveillance regime during which "it is mandatory to wear FFP2 type respiratory protective devices, indoors or in the presence of gatherings, up to the fifth day following the date of the last close contact”.

If you experience symptoms in the following days, immediate testing is recommended. Healthcare workers must perform an antigen or molecular test on a daily basis up to the fifth day after the last contact with a confirmed case.
