The effects of Spikevax on younger people were examined in a study involving 3,732 boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 17. The investigation complied with the pediatric plan for the vaccine in question, approved by the Pediatric Committee of the European Medicines Agency.

The CHMP specified that given the small number of children and adolescents involved in the clinic, the latter could not detect uncommon side effects or estimate the risk of known side effects such as myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the membrane around the heart).
