Crevalcore, all the plans of the Piedmontese Tecnomeccanica for the post-Marelli period

Crevalcore, all the plans of the Piedmontese Tecnomeccanica for the post-Marelli period

What will change with Tecnomeccanica for the Crevalcore ex Marelli plant.

The Marelli era ends in Crevalcore. But the shutters won't stay down for long. It is the Minister of Business and Made in Italy himself, Adolfo Urso , who also somewhat irregularly anticipates Marelli's decision to sell the Crevalcore plant to the Piedmontese company Tecnomeccanica, effectively making today's summit a pro-forma, by teleconference, to the ministry.

THE COMPETITION TO “SAVE” CREVALCORE

This is not a real surprise. It was in fact known that Tecnomeccanica was the favorite as soon as it remained in the race with Niche Fusina in the competition which, in some points, seemed to have reached five candidates (two, however, were immediately withdrawn, while a third, cited exclusively by the local authorities, remained unknown).

As already reported in Start Magazine in recent weeks, Tecnomeccanica's challenger, namely Niche Fusina, a Venetian company of the multinational Dada active in the field of aluminum processing, intended, through an investment of approximately 12-15 million euros, to transform Crevalcore in a secondary aluminum foundry also through a plan to hire former Marelli staff of around 120-130 people.

TECNOMECCANICA PROJECTS

Instead, Tecnomeccanica prevailed since, in addition to not radically transforming the plants, it intends to absorb 152 of the 220 workers to start the production of die-cast components and a smaller molding department for plastic components.

The plan, supported by investments of 22 million euros until 2027, envisages a first round of re-hiring of around 100 people as early as May, while the others would be progressively employed by December 2024.

WHO TECNOMECCANICA IS AND WHAT IT DOES

Tecnomeccanica is a foundry in the province of Novara concentrated in the production of precision die-cast aluminum components for the automotive sector and for this reason already a customer of the plant.

Active since 1945, it produces die-cast components in aluminum alloy and produces metallized reflectors for headlights in the automotive sector and heat sinks for LED lights. In 2016, Idea Sgr, part of DeA Capital Alternative Funds Sgr Spa, acquired control of the Novara-based company from the Agradi family.

At the end of 2021, the IDeA Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development Fund then sold its stake in Tecnomeccanica to a pool of partners led by the company's current CEO, Engineer Simone Ferrucci.

As reported by BeBeez , the fund collected around 20 million euros for its 93.6% stake. Furthermore, during 2018, Tecnomeccanica acquired Mea Srl of Moncalieri from the Olsa industrial group. Tecnomeccanica closed 2020 with revenues of 20.5 million, an ebitda of 1.6 million and a net financial position of 3.5 million.
