Here are the journalists who will parade in Atreju

Here are the journalists who will parade in Atreju

But how many journalists will there be on the Atreju stage? More than those in the audience? Certainly more than those in the editorial offices… Names, positions and curiosities in Claudio Trezzano's letter

Dear director,

I'm bothering you because I was looking through the program of Atreju , the Fratelli d'Italia event: since everyone talks about it because of Elon Musk (whose presence, however, isn't yet on the site), I was looking for other curiosities that deserved a piece but mine attention was attracted by something else entirely.

I am referring to the incredible presence of colleagues. Are so many! You will tell me that it is normal, given the scale of the event, then I will explain myself better: I am not talking about journalists accredited to cover Atreju, but about those who accepted the invitation in various capacities, as guests, to present books or, more in general, to moderate debates.

There are so many of them, mostly afferent (without too many surprises) to the right since always, to the recent centre-right or in any case sympathizers or "not bad thinkers", let's put it that way. And I therefore imagine that in those days many editorial offices will be undefended, especially at the top level: let's hope nothing important happens in the world or the main newspapers will find themselves documenting some big news without a helmsman at the helm!

I'll try to go through the program with you so as not to forget any. We begin immediately on December 14th with the opening panel moderated by Paolo Corsini (now Director of Rai Insights), who has a long career behind him in public service and has always been considered a personality close to the political right, so much so as to be one of the animators of the nascent Rai anti-Usigrai union. From 2009 to 2014 he was Deputy Director of the Rai Giornale Radio. In 2014 he was assigned to report directly to the Director of the Rai Giornale Radio newspaper. In 2015 he was entrusted with the responsibility of the "Telegiornale" editorial team of Rai Parliament. In 2020 he was appointed Head of the "Current Affairs" organizational unit of the Rai Due Directorate, as Deputy Director and, subsequently, without prejudice to the role of Deputy Director, he was entrusted with responsibility for the "In-depth Information and Religious Columns" organizational unit . In 2022 he became responsible for the "In-depth 3" organizational unit of the In-depth Directorate as Deputy Director. In May of this year he also assumed temporary responsibility for the same Directorate, a role which was subsequently confirmed with the appointment as Director.

The next block sees the moderation of Luciano Fontana who, as director of Corriere della Sera, certainly needs no introduction. He alternates with Angelo Mellone , director of Entertainment Day Time Rai, like Corsini who has long been considered very close to the right and centre-right, and whose profile is multifaceted to say the least. To summarize it for you, I am forced to resort to his official biography on the Rai website: Professor of Public and Political Communication at the Luiss “Guido Carli” School of Journalism in Rome. Political Science Researcher at the “S. Pius V" of Rome. Professor of Political Communication at the Luiss “Guido Carli” School of Journalism in Rome. Teacher of Creative Writing at Luiss “Guido Carli” in Rome. Consultant for cultural events and editorial products of Zètema-Progetto Cultura. Artistic consultant of the Rome Literature Festival. Artistic Director for initiatives relating to the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Columnist for Il Tempo, Libero, il Foglio, Epolis group, Il Giornale, Il Riformista, Il Messaggero. Curator/presenter of the “Pop politicis” column – Gr-Rai Parliament. Commentator for Twelfth Round (Rai Due). Host of Unomattina Weekend (Rai1). Since 2022 he has been Artistic Director of "UmbriaLibri" and has also been President of the Lucania Film Commission since the same year: Since 2023 he has been Professor of "Theory and technique of television and radio communication" at the University of Salerno. To make sure he didn't miss anything, he wrote reports, non-fiction and novels.

Among the most vocal we find Pietro Senaldi (co-director of Libero ) who moderates the debate "Centre-right in Government: vision, cohesion, sharing". On the same day we have the presentation of the book "Moderno Sara Lei" by Gianluigi Paragone, former director of the Padania newspaper and therefore close to the original secessionist League, then five-star senator until his expulsion in 2020, today more to the right than those in the government with his Italexit party which has the sole aim of getting us out of the euro.

The presentation of the book "The Italy of the miracle" by Francesco Carlesi is instead moderated by another well-known television face: Luca Telese who, despite having always shown sympathies for the left (in the early 1990s he was spokesperson for the Communist Refoundation Party ) and his beginnings at Unità , he also has a past at the Giornale and is appreciated on the right for his books, in particular Cuori Neri , on the crimes of the Years of Lead, from the Primavalle fire to the death of Ramelli, which since 2006 has been continuously republished.

The 8pm panel, Atreju Award to Shiva Amini (Iranian footballer), in which themes such as the condition of women in the Middle East and sport intersect, is moderated by the sports commentator Saverio Montingelli. If you follow football you will surely have seen him as a correspondent for Domenica Sportiva , Dribbling , 90th minute or La Settimana Ventura .

The following day begins with the presentation of the books "Nato all'incontrario" with Francesco Curridori , an old acquaintance of Telese having been an editor in the newspaper Pubblico , while since 2014 he has collaborated with ilgiornale.it, following "Italia, l'ultimo cuore" by Maria Rachele Ruiu, Maria Scicchitano and Debora Donnini , journalist for Vatican Radio/Vatican News for over twenty years.

In the following panel "The heart of the Nation: prospects for a new spring of the family" moderated by the journalist Laura Tecce known for the Rai program Onorevoli confessioni (let's not forget that she has collaborated with Il Giornale , Libero Quotidiano and La Notizia ) we find Francesco Borgonovo (Deputy Director La Verità ), an intellectual who is notoriously conversational and very popular on TV. Immediately after, moderation passes to Roberto Inciocchi , a regular presence at the Rimini Meeting, host of Start , a political in-depth program broadcast every morning on Sky TG24. Among the guests of the economic panel we find Alberto Orioli (Deputy Director of Il Sole 24 Ore ).

Given the many television appearances , Hoara Borselli, Libero 's signature, needs no introduction. The panel on justice is entrusted to the moderation of Daniele Capezzone (now editorial director of Libero ) who then leaves the microphone for the panel on work to Davide Vecchi (director of the newspaper Il Tempo ).

Star of the evening, my colleagues don't hold me against it, but it is Bruno Vespa who is leading the debate “Premiere: end of games. Di Palazzo”. At the presentation of the book "The Last Plane from Kabul" by Stefano Pontecorvo (I think he is the president of Leonardo) we find Antonio Rapisarda , signature of Tempo .

At eight o'clock Francesco Riccardi (Deputy Director of Avvenire ) takes the stage. Another journalist opens the day on Saturday: Roberto Genovesi (Director of Rai Libri). Followed by Giorgia Rossi (journalist and television presenter). At noon, Maurizio Belpietro (Director of La Verità ) and Andrea Malaguti (Director of La Stampa ) moderate in tandem. Fausto Biloslavo (Journalist and war correspondent), as well as in the one on geopolitics we invariably find Federico Rampini moderated by Mario Sechi (Editor in charge of Libero).

Then we find Tommaso Cerno (who I discovered directs L'Identità : I have yet to understand his politics, at least, and then I don't follow TV, in fact they tell me he spends the day jumping around as a guest and commentator from one program to another ) who then gives way to Massimo Martinelli (Director of Il Messaggero ). But the stage lights are all for the presentation of the book “La versione di Giorgia” by Alessandro Sallusti , moderated by David Parenzo and Giuseppe Cruciani . Director, I'm already looking forward to the show! Free burp at the end of the presentation?

This is then followed by the presentation of the book “La crossing of the right. From the MSI to the Brothers of Italy and the Meloni government” by Adalberto Baldoni and Federico Gennaccari which will be moderated by Incoronata Boccia of Tg1. Speaking of Tg1: in the Atreju program we note the absence of Gianmarco Chiocci, the director of the first Rai news program: but being – I read from the news – a great friend of Giorgia Meloni it would have been superfluous or superfluous to include him in the programme. Finally on Sunday we have the moderation of Annalisa Chirico (who with the Meloni government, i.e. with the new Rai leaders representing the centre-right, obtained the hosting of a radio programme; well done).

Ah, of course if the surprise guest was Elon Musk, add Nicola Porro for the interview, given that he seems to be the interviewer most liked by Mister La Verità recently wrote, in the good graces of Unipol (X shareholder but this will only be a mere coincidence).

In the end I understand that only the newspaper Repubblica will not empty itself to participate in Atreju.

Best wishes,

Claudio Trezzano
