How the anti-inflation pact works for controlled spending

The government and distribution representatives signed an anti-inflation pact yesterday: from October to December some basic and consumer products will have controlled prices. All the details

Yesterday the government – in the figures of the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Minister of Business Adolfo Urso and the Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida – signed an "anti-inflation pact" with representatives of the world of production, transformation and distribution.

THE OCTOBER-DECEMBER QUARTER

The pact aims to reduce the impact of high inflation on the purchasing power of citizens and families for a quarter. From 1 October to 31 December, therefore, the points of sale that will join the government initiative will apply controlled prices on a vast range of basic necessities and consumer products, both food and non-food, such as those for children: the government 'he defined it as a “tricolor basket”.

The selection of products will be up to companies and distribution chains in total freedom – there is therefore no detailed list of controlled goods – who will undertake to contain and not increase prices in the reference period.

HOW THE ANTI-INFLATION PACT WILL WORK

In concrete terms, the containment of inflation will take place through fixed prices, promotions, private label products, discounted or single price trolleys. The products at controlled prices will be easily recognizable to consumers thanks to the indication of the "Anti-inflation Quarter" logo, which consists of a tricolor shopping cart.

All citizens will be able to benefit from the initiative and access promotions, regardless of their ISEE, age and use of other social inclusion or poverty support measures. The measure also applies to online shopping only if the individual merchant decides to display the "Anti-inflation Quarter" sticker in the online cart.

The pact also provides for the establishment of a permanent supply chain table at the Ministry of Business which will have the task of analyzing the evolution of the initiative, the needs and any critical issues of the sectors involved.

The Ministry of Business has also developed an online portal where consumers will be able to consult the points of sale participating in the pact, divided by province.

THE ASSOCIATIONS THAT HAVE JOINED

All the distribution, traditional trade, food industry and craft associations have joined the initiative; merchants and cooperatives; operators in the agricultural and pharmaceutical-parapharmaceutical sector: FederDistribuzione, Ancd – Conad, Ancc – Coop, Confcommercio, Fiesa – Confesercenti, Confcooperative – consumption and users, Confimprese, Federfarma, Assofarm, Farmacieunite, Federfardis, Mnlf, Culpi, Fnpi, Unaftisp, Federalimentare , Centromarca, IBC, Union Alimentari Confapi, Unionfood, Assogiocattoli, Confimi industria, Cna, Confartigianato, Casartigiani, Legacoop agroalimentare, Confcooperative–Fedagripesca, Coldiretti, Confagricoltura, Filiera Italia, Copagri, CIA.
