How's Mbda from Leonardo, Airbus and Bae?

What emerges from Mbda's 2020 results, presented by CEO Éric Béranger

Mbda resists 2020.

Revenues amounted to 3.6 billion euros, with a 50% distribution between domestic and export customers. Orders in 2020 totaled € 3.3 billion (down 5.7%), with the order book now standing at € 16.6 billion.

These are the results of last year presented yesterday, during a press conference, by Éric Béranger, CEO of the European missile group owned by Airbus (37.5%), Bae Systems (37.5%) and Leonardo (25%) ).

All the details.

REVENUES

Revenues fell only 2.7% to 3.6 billion euros in 2020, from 3.7 billion euros in 2019, and the value of the order book fell to 16.6 billion.

THE MAIN ORDERS OF 2020

Major contracts signed in 2020 include the order for the production of the Spear missile for the Royal Air Force and an upgrade of the Brimstone 3 missile; the Aster half-life upgrade for France and the development of the new Mht combat missile for the Tiger helicopter; the contract for the new Teseo Mk2 / E anti- ship missile for the Italian Navy and the contract (with Rheinmetall as co-supplier) for a new high-energy laser demonstrator for the German Navy.

Major export orders include naval armament systems for an undisclosed foreign customer and for Senegal.

BÉRANGER: "2020 RESULTS AN EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS"

“The 2020 results represent an extraordinary success – underlined Béranger – of all Mbda colleagues who have shown commitment, team spirit and capacity for innovation in guaranteeing business continuity towards their customers. I also want to thank our customers who have maintained their trust in us during this difficult year. These results pave the way for future growth. Mbda is fundamental for the sovereignty of our nations and their allies to whom we will continue to offer the most advanced solutions for the protection of national security and to guarantee their strategic independence ”.

A CHALLENGE 2021

2021 promises to be a better year according to CEO Béranger. The first months were "quite busy", with the first sale to the Egyptian Navy of the Mica NG anti-aircraft missile , also ordered by France, the armaments for the Rafale fighters sold to Greece and the Franco-Italian decision to launch the system of new generation anti-aircraft defense Samp / T Ng.

On 19 March Occar awarded the contract for Samp / T Ng which will give France and Italy an enhanced capacity to guarantee the sovereignty of their airspace and protect the population, the territory and the troops in operations from the new emerging threats.

France and the UK will take further steps in their cooperation under the Lancaster House Treaty, starting the evaluation phase for the FC / ASW program. They will continue to strengthen their technological base for next generation missile systems, renewing their commitment to the "Complex Weapon Innovation & Technology Partnership" (Cw-Itp).

Among the investments, Mbda will also continue to invest in the joint Twister (Timely Warning Interceptor with Spacebased TheatER monitoring) program from the EU, to provide a European contribution to NATO's ballistic defense (BMD).

MBDA WORKING ON TEMPEST AND FCAS

As part of the two partnerships that will deliver the next generation of future Tempest and FCAS combat aircraft systems, Mbda will continue to develop capable, cost-effective, upgradeable, connected and cooperative effectors for future air dominance.
