Leonardo, here are the new duties of Fata in the former Finmeccanica

From a meeting between Leonardo managers and trade unions, the group's desire emerged to make the subsidiary Fata the pivot of the new logistics model in the Aircraft division

Leonardo will focus on the verticalization of Fata in the new logistics model.

From rumors about a meeting between Leonardo managers and trade unions, it emerged that the Aircraft Division will be supported by the “Next Generation Opsc (Operations, Procurement & Supply Chain)” program.

Opsc's “vision” is divided into nine transformation themes consistent with the end-to-end management of the industrial process of Leonardo's Aircraft Division and one of these is logistics.

And the new logistics model provides for the verticalization of Fata Ls.

Already at the beginning of August, the meeting with the management of Fata had confirmed how Leonardo, in the production reorganization in the various sites, had definitively chosen Fata as the company for the management of logistics in the group, becoming the same structural in the implementation of the LPS (Leonardo Production System).

This choice certainly opens up new opportunities for Fata within the group and future opportunities to acquire further orders on the rapidly expanding logistics market.

Fata Logistic Systems, founded in 2002, is a Leonardo Group company specializing in inbound and outbound logistics, logistical support, transport, freight forwarding, customs operations and replacement of documentation.

All the details.

HOW OPSC WILL SUPPORT THE AIRCRAFT DIVISION

The evolution of the sector poses a competitiveness challenge in which the Supply Chain plays a primary role in the implementation of the strategy of the Aircraft Division of the giant in Piazza Monte Grappa. The company plans to develop the governance of the OPSC function, taking advantage of the opportunities for end-to-end integration of industrial processes.

As we said, one of the new transformation themes is logistics.

THE CENTRAL ROLE OF FATA LS

The new reference LDV Logistics model provides for the verticalization on FATA LS, as Logistic Provider, of the management of warehouses, internal movements, including the quota per cycle and shuttles. In addition, the management as Service Provider of raw metal materials and auxiliary production materials is also envisaged.

The management of the requirements and the related expediting, the production control and the management of the Service Providers remain in charge of the Division.

HOW TO DO IT

Finally, we recall that in 2015 the then Finmeccanica had signed an agreement with Danieli Group for the sale of 100% of Fata Spa, active in the design of industrial plants, and of its subsidiaries in the USA (Fata Hunter), India (Fata Engineering ), China (Fata Shanghai) and UAE (Fata Gulf).

The full shareholding in Fata Logistic Systems SpA was not part of the sale agreement

As stated in a trade union note , "Fata grows, even in the year of the pandemic, in revenues (+ 5% compared to 2019) but shows a significant decline in EBITA (-54% compared to 2019), a decline mainly linked to decrease in volumes in some Divisions / Companies. What does not improve is a stable staff hired directly by Fata, in fact, of the 1,009 employees, more than 1/3 are hired with supply contracts (363 equal to 36% of the total employees), to which are added a substantial number of company workers external ".
