This virus, more dangerous than Covid-19, has also infected, always with rare exceptions, the communication and freedom of the press, as well as the transparency and independence of the judiciary itself, an irreplaceable garrison in a democratic regime.
The budget, three years (2018-2021) from the beginning of this unfortunate legislature, is tragic, the budget of a defeat: the two opposing governments, led by the same person, not elected, with contradictory programs; the unsuccessful management of an epochal pandemic, characterized by four anarchies (institutional, scientific, organizational and communicational); the total lack of truth towards the country, with families and businesses in disarray; the measures passed, incomprehensible and, at times, inapplicable; the most sinister profiteering, a sure matrix of corruption, behind the suffering of millions of citizens in difficulty, with 100,000 dead on their conscience; the autocratic and self-referential manipulation of institutional communication, aimed at creating a fictitious consensus and satisfaction in surveys; the most brazen party currentism, even with respect to a deprecated past, at the cost of betraying the values of its own political history. And that's enough. It was hoped that the appeal, in the hour of danger, by the Head of State, to responsibility and unity of purpose, could bring the major parties to their senses, under the leadership of Mario Draghi.
Unfortunately, the fratricidal struggle, within them, for government and sub-government posts, has shown how illusory such an expectation was. A PD, victim of the errors of a confused and fluctuating management, in search of a nebulous perspective that cannot be reduced, under penalty of self-destruction, to an alliance of mutual survival, with the M5s. The latter, in the throes of continuous convulsions and disintegrations, connected to the anomaly of its origins and the lack of ideal roots, with the only escape route of relying on any "dictator", in order to float until the end of the legislature . A League, also split, deeply, between a minority wing that aspires to the definitive overcoming of anti-Europeanism and voter-picking populism, and a leader who continues to play on ambivalence,
trying, in vain, to put his imprint on government decisions.
This is the alarming political scenario, on the eve of the third, even more virulent, epidemic wave, with the prospect of a new national lockdown, perhaps necessary, but which will end up massacring entire productive sectors, such as tourism, and the world of micro , small and medium-sized enterprises.
Stay on your feet, vaccine safety permitting. only the hope of a general, rapid and decisive prevention campaign, entrusted to technicians, which will give families and businesses an extreme opportunity to escape from a nightmare and to recover, both psychologically and economically. No ruling party, however, will be able to boast, if any, of any merit or put a hat on the results. Then, finally, the political elections will sanction this irresponsible political class and radically renew the national ruling class. In any case, in the future legislature, the work of the committees of inquiry, the tribunal of ministers and ordinary courts cannot be lacking, to shed light on the moral, civil, criminal and accounting responsibilities of this disaster.
