In the first 9 months of the year, Agcom photographs a drop in audience for the television sector. VIEWERS ARE DROPPING FOR GENERALIST TV

The "prime time" slot (18.64 million listeners last September) also recorded a decrease of 2.15 million compared to September 2021.

Looking at the average daily values ​​since the beginning of the year, in the first nine months of the year spectators on the "average day" amounted to 8.31 million, down by around 780 thousand (equal to a reduction of 8.6%) compared to corresponding value in 2021 (9.09 million). RAI AT THE TOP OF THE AUDIENCES, LATCHED BY MEDIASET

Looking specifically at the average daily audience of the main television publishing groups on an average day, Rai is at the top of the ranking with 3.16 million viewers (38.0% share) followed by Mediaset with 3.07 million (37.0% share). 0%).

But both groups have lost viewership. Compared to the corresponding data for 2021, Agcom observes a more intense drop for Rai (500,000 fewer daily viewers compared to Mediaset's 80,000 fewer). On the other hand, the total audience of La7 (370 thousand on an average day) does not record significant changes on an annual basis.

Viewers of the other main operators also fell, both in the "average day" and in "prime time".

Discovery and Comcast/Sky overall went from 1.38 to 1.29 million viewers (-6.8%) in the "average day" and from 2.99 to 2.65 million (-11.4%) in the "prime time”. With specific reference to the performance of the main channels of the publishing groups (Rai 1, Rai 2, Rai 3, Rete 4, Canale 5, Italia 1, La7, TV8 and Nove), overall on an average day, on an annual basis, they lose 530 thousand viewers (from 5.98 to 5.45 million, equal to a reduction of 8.9%), with significant declines for Rai2 (-20%) and Rai3 (-17.1%); of the channels of the Mediaset group, Canale 5 showed the smallest drop (-4.2%), while La7 and TV8 did not show significant changes.

A similar trend can be observed in "prime time", where the overall viewers lost by the nine channels considered, on an annual basis, amount to an average of 1.39 million (-9.4%), with the three Rai channels decreasing by over one million units (from 7.37 to 6.36 million, equal to -13.7%), while those Mediaset show a more contained decrease (around 360 thousand spectators, equal to a reduction of -6.5% ). The ratings of TV8 and Nove fell by 9.2 and 4 14.5% respectively.

LA7 THE ONLY CHANNEL TO GROW

At the same time, among those considered, La7 is the only channel to show a modest increase (from 1.06 to 1.14 million, +8.3%).

Indeed, the analysis of the trend in viewers of the main newscasts on an average day highlights, in the first nine months of the year, a reduction of 2.47 million viewers compared to 2021 (from 17.98 to 15.52 million) in the editions broadcast in the 18:30-20:30 time slot and a drop of 1.82 million in the 12:00-14:00 time slot (from 14.75 to 12.93 million).

Even Mediaset's evening news programs, on average, recorded an overall reduction of 5.8% (from 5.30 to 4.76 million viewers): viewers on 8.00 pm TG5 went from 3.97 to 3, 64 million (-8.5%), those of Studio Aperto at 6.30pm went from 710 thousand to 540 thousand (-25%), while the decline in audiences of TG4 at 7.00pm was more contained (from 610 to 590 thousand daily viewers (-4.2%).Also with regard to the evening slot, the La7 news at 8.00pm went from 1.11 to 1.0 million viewers (-8.2%).Looking at the editions of the 12 time slot :00-14:30, RAI's news lost a total of 1.29 million viewers (from 9.45 to 8.15 million viewers) while those of the Mediaset group around 500,000 (overall viewers go from 4 .73 to about 4.23 million).

The ratings of the La7 TG at 1.30pm dropped from around 0.58 to around 0.54 million, down by around 40,000 units.
