Railways, here is the news for Italo and Trenitalia employees

Trenitalia (FS group) and Italo have reached agreements with the unions after last month's mobilization. New hires, increase in the ticket restaurant for Trenitalia employees and increases of up to 280 euros for Italo employees. All the details

After the strikes by employees of Trenitalia (FS group) and Italo which warmed up the already boiling temperatures of July, companies and unions have reached an agreement.

As far as Trenitalia is concerned, the agreement with the trade unions Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ferrovieri, Slm Fast Confsal and Orsa Ferrovie regards recruitment (2,000 entries already this year), company meals (10.5 tickets restaurant for all), commercial and crews.

On the Italo Ntv front, the hypothesis of an agreement has been signed for the renewal of the company collective labor agreement, which expired in December 2021. Filt CGIL reports this in a note , underlining that "it represents a significant first step that responds to the requests of female workers and workers for an agreement, long awaited to the point of proclaiming two national strikes”.

Thus the point is put to the respective disputes which in mid-July had led to a 24-hour strike by the personnel of the two companies, then halved by the intervention of the deputy prime minister and transport minister Matteo Salvini, Il Sole 24 Ore recalls.

And again yesterday, MIT, the Ministry of Education and Merit and the Fs group signed a memorandum of understanding to promote collaboration between schools and businesses. The goal is to counter the school-business mismatch

All the details.

INCREASE IN RESTAURANT TICKET FOR TRENITALIA (FS) EMPLOYEES

The ticket for Trenitalia employees rises to 10.50 euros. This is what is foreseen in the agreement signed between the FS Italiane group and the subsidiary Trenitalia with the trade union organizations Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ferrovieri, Slm Fast Confsal and Orsa Ferrovie.

The company announced this in a note, reporting that the amount of the ticket for all workers of the Group companies to which the Mobility Collective Agreement/AF Area and the Gruppo FS company contract apply has been "raised to 10.50 euros Italian, as a concrete tool to support and engage workers in continuity with the actions already shared by the parties in 2022".

NEW RECRUITMENTS PLANNED ALREADY THIS YEAR

Furthermore, the company communicated to the unions "an overall 2023 hiring plan of around 2,000 entries".

This is "a thousand more than the normal turnover which will concern all sectors of Trenitalia and which will bring mitigation measures in crew shifts and in October the start of a comparison on hiring in 2024" specifies the note from Filt CGIL.

"In addition to the new hires, you foresee opportunities for professional growth for around 250 workers, for whom the transition to a higher classification than the current one has been agreed" added the Fit-Cisl general secretary Salvatore Pellecchia, quoted by Il Giornale.

THE PROTOCOL SIGNED BETWEEN CEO FERRARIS AND MINISTERS SALVINI AND VALDITARA ON TRAINING

On 2 August however, the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara and the CEO of the FS group Luigi Ferraris signed a memorandum of understanding to promote initiatives and collaborations between the school world and the business world so as to identify concrete solutions to address the growing problem of the misalignment between the skills required by businesses and those resulting from school and training courses.

“A difference between supply and demand which in 2022 involved over 2 million people and which constitutes an obstacle to the search for competent and trained personnel” reads the company note. The three-year agreement provides for various initiatives to promote information, dialogue and the co-planning of paths and tools that respond to the need to train professional profiles suited to employment needs, and to promote operational projects with schools and regions.

THE ITALIAN DISPUTE

At the same time, the balance was also found for the Italo Ntv dispute.

The company has closed the agreement with the trade unions for the renewal of the employment contract.

“The contract, which expired in December 2021 – explains the CGIL Transport Federation – will last until 31 December 2024. From an economic point of view on the minimums, an increase of 110 euros in two steps is expected, 80 euros in September and 30 euros in August 2024 as established in the renewal of the national agreement of the Railway Activities that applies to the FS group".

According to the trade union acronym, this is "another important step to equalize contractual and wage conditions between the two railway companies".

WHAT THE RENEWAL OF THE CONTRACT INVOLVES

Therefore, the renewal of Italo's contract provides for a one-off 800 euro for the contractual holiday in August and 200 euro in welfare in September. Increases also for staff travel allowances and per diem for crew personnel and for station sales commissions. Confirmed the non-absorption of super minimums. Between minimums and variables, the overall economic increase is worth between 200 and 280 euros per month.

“From a regulatory point of view for crew personnel, the average 38 hours per week will be calculated on a monthly basis instead of over three months as envisaged in the previous contract with a benefit in terms of the onerous workloads. A discussion aimed at quickly finding solutions that will have to lead to the reduction of the current period established for the use of holidays for all personnel is launched immediately," explains the note from Filt CGIL.

THE NEXT STEPS

“The mobilization which registered a large number of members – finally comments the Filt CGIL – contributed to the agreement which brings improvements, as well as economic ones, also on the articulation of working hours and on the reconciliation with times of private life. There are still some critical points that will be addressed in order to be resolved starting in the next few months and which concern management issues related to the use of personnel (smart working, part-time, welfare system, mitigation of traveling staff shifts, correct application classification)".

"The hypothesis of agreement, which has not seen the signing by all the trade union organizations, will be submitted to the referendum between workers and we will take immediate action to recompose union unity because we believe that, in the context given, this agreement represents a first improvement in the economic and regulatory conditions of Italo's railway workers".
