The Italian medal celebrating two years of Ukrainian resistance

The State Printing and Mint Institute dedicates a medal to the two years of Ukrainian resistance: part of the proceeds will be donated to charity at the Unbroken Kids rehabilitation center, at the St. Nicholas hospital in Lviv.

On February 24, two years ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of what only Russia and its allies call a "special military operation" in Ukraine. For the rest of the world, on February 24, 2024, Russia's war against Ukraine and the resistance of the Ukrainian people began. To this anniversary and to the value of the Ukrainian people, the State Mint and Polygraphic Institute dedicated the bronze medal called "Two years of Ukrainian resistance", minted by the State Mint based on a project by the students of the Medal Art school.

The unforgettable Rossoneri striker, former Ukraine coach and current president of the Ukrainian Football Federation Andriy Shevchenko was unable to participate in person but connected via video conference. “Thanks to the State Printing and Mint Institute and to Italy for inviting me to this important initiative. I saw, and appreciated, the image of the medal you made on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the resistance of my people. This initiative is doubly important to me. As you know, I am very attached to Italy. I know that a large part of the proceeds from the sale of the medal will go to the Lviv Children's Hospital. It is nice to think of the many Ukrainian children who will be helped thanks to the closeness of the Italian people. Thanks Italy. Slav Ukrainians!”
