THE RIVIERA ROMAGNOLA AT THE TOP FOR NUMBER OF COMPANIES IN THE BEACH SECTOR

The predominance of the Romagna localities clearly emerges from the ranking of Italian municipalities with the largest number of entrepreneurial realities in the sector. In fact, in the first three places there are three Romagna municipalities: Ravenna (191), Rimini (155), Cervia (153). If we add the 117 companies of Riccione (fifth) and 114 of Cesenatico (sixth), the five Romagna municipalities total 730 entrepreneurial realities, 68.7% of all the infrastructures of the Romagna Riviera and 10.2% of the national total.

FOLLOWED BY TUSCANY AND LIGURIA

Immediately behind Emilia-Romagna, the Olympus of bathing sees on the podium two 'historic' destinations for lovers of the Italian sea: Tuscany, with 914 activities distributed along 397 km of coastline (2.3 businesses every km) and Liguria, with 807 companies covering 330 km of coastline (2.4 every km). Tuscany, with Camaiore (91 companies along only 3 km of coastline) also holds the record for the maximum density of seaside activities (31 companies per km), compared to a national average (measured on the 770 municipalities that overlook our seas) fixes on the one-to-one relationship between businesses and kilometers of coastline.

THE SOUTHERN REGIONS COMMITTED TO RECOVERING POSITIONS IN THE LAST DECADE

Since 2011, the race to manage bathing on the coasts of Italy (including those of lakes and rivers) has led to an overall increase of 1,443 more units. The protagonists of growth in the last decade are the regions of the South, decidedly launched to recover positions with respect to the Center-North. In the period considered, the most significant growth in absolute terms concerned Calabria (+328 units) which doubled the 2011 budget. Sicily (+198 activities, + 67.6% in the decade), Campania (+184) followed. ) and Puglia (+160). In relative terms, the most consistent acceleration of the decade is that of Sardinia (+ 162.5%).

TYPE OF ENTERPRISE: THE COMPANY OF PEOPLE PREVALS

The exercise of this particular activity is carried out mainly in the form of partnerships (3,507 companies with this legal form at the end of 2021, equal to 43% of the total), a probable reflection of the frequent family management of this type of activity. 2,099 companies (29%) choose the formula of the joint stock company, with the remaining 28% being distributed between individual enterprises (25%) and other forms, mainly consisting of cooperatives (3%).

WHAT EMERGES FROM THE PHOTOGRAPH OF THE CAPITAL COMPANIES

Taking into consideration the approximately 1,700 joint stock companies for which balance sheet data are available, the photo returned by the Business Register draws the identikit of a sector that is half populated (68.4%) by companies below 250 thousand euros. of turnover. 18.6% is between 250 and 500 thousand euros, 9.5% is in the range between 500 thousand and 1 million while a small group (3.4%) totaled collections of more than six zeros at the end of the year.

ONE OUT OF 4 BATHING ENTERPRISES ARE LEADED BY WOMEN

Finally, as regards governance, one out of 4 seaside businesses is led by women (1,809 businesses, 25.2% of the total, a figure above the average of the national total of 22.1%) while only 6% (427 ) is led by young people under 35, a share below the national average of 8.9%.

IN PARTICULAR FOR THE BEACHES OF CALABRIA

The "pink" is especially suited to the beaches of Calabria, where the percentage of female-run businesses reaches 31.3%. Followed closely by Friuli Venezia Giulia (31%) and immediately after Tuscany and Lazio, with respectively 28.8 and 28.6% of female representation. In Veneto (11.8%) the share of bathing establishments led by women is lowest. As for youth businesses, the highest attendance rates are found in the regions of the South with (once again) Calabria in the lead (with 12.7% of youth businesses out of the total number of bathing establishments) followed by Basilicata (9.1% ), Sicily (8.4%) and Campania 8.1%).
