We are becoming Islamized and in Europe we are sleeping. Meotti speaks

“There is also a profound ignorance regarding the ongoing Islamization of the phenomenon and its extent. And then there is the fear of being considered Islamophobic and therefore racist." Start Magazine conversation with Giulio Meotti, author of the essay " The sweet conquest. Europe surrenders to Islam ” (Cantagalli)

Just like in the story of the Titanic band, Europe is happily dancing on the edge of the abyss. According to Giulio Meotti the iceberg is called Islam, and our destiny is summed up in the title of the new book by the Foglio journalist: “ The sweet conquest. Europe surrenders to Islam ” (Cantagalli editions, preface by Bowalem Sansau, afterword by Richard Millet).

An investigative book with which Meotti tells the singular parable of a continent overwhelmed, in the general indifference or even in the complacency of some, by a mass migration which ends up drastically altering not only the demographic balance but above all the very delicate ones of culture and plot of the rules on which democracy is based. Between Islamic courts that administer the sharia, neighborhoods transformed into no go zones where unveiled women, homosexuals and Jews and intellectuals under guard for having broken the wall of political correctness cannot pass, the present of countries like France, Belgium or Great Britain foreshadows a far from rosy future for all of Europe, and therefore for Rome

Start Magazine spoke about it directly with the author, to whom we first asked a blunt question.

Meotti, are we becoming Islamized?

The answer that my book provides is unfortunately positive: we are slowly Islamizing ourselves due to an addiction if not indifference towards the fate that Europe is facing.

The old question of the fragile identity of our continent?

That's right. We are talking about long phenomena that can be measured over decades but which now appear irreversible to us. In a quarter of a century Europe will be completely different. Its cities will be largely Islamized and in part they already are if we think of the cases of Marseille, Brussels, Malmö, London, Cologne and in general the capitals of the European Union where today the Islamic presence settles between the 20th and 30th %.

With a demographic increase that doesn't seem to stop.

Exactly. It is now plausible that within a generation Muslims in large cities will be the majority. And the big cities must be kept under an eye because they are the thermometer of what will happen everywhere by the end of the century.

It was Gaddafi who warned us that Islam would conquer us with the wombs of its women.

Already. The strength of Islam derives precisely from its demographic dynamics. Added to this is the disruptive capacity to propagate his ideology, which takes place in the context of a true expansionist project financed with billions from the Gulf countries with whose support, for example, new megamosques are constantly being built. It is naturally striking that this plan of conquest and submission takes place while the West is on holiday, as Emile Cioran liked to say.

What is new today in a debate that raged more than twenty years ago in the aftermath of the collapse of the Twin Towers, the controversial warnings of Oriana Fallaci and that book by Bat Ye'or which prophesied the advent of Eurabia?

The numbers have changed, that is, the extent of the phenomenon. My book tries to give concrete figures to what appeared twenty years ago as the specter of Eurabia. We therefore start from Qatar which alone has invested more than a billion dollars in the last ten years for the opening of new mosques in the West, and this without taking into account the similar investments made by other actors such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf States. Then there is the disconcerting fact of France where today in the population between 15 and 50 there are more followers of Muhammad than devout Catholics. But Islam has also become the dominant religion in English cities and in particular in that paradigmatic case which is Londonistan. But similar phenomena are also found in Benelux cities, such as Brussels and Antwerp, the heart of old Europe which are galloping towards an Islamized multiculturalism. These cities today have profoundly changed even in their aesthetics, which makes them unrecognizable.

Many citizens actually seem to appreciate the multiculturalism of ethnic shops, kebabs and interreligious prayers. But behind the scenes there are also undesirable aspects. Real?

Yes, and we see it above all in the rest of Europe, rather than at home where these phenomena are appearing late. But judging by what we see elsewhere, we too will soon have legal sharia courts like in England, or neighborhoods where unveiled women can't enter like in Brussels, and areas where homosexuals are advised not to walk around holding on by hand. Then there is an anti-Semitism which promptly resurfaced after 7 October. And we must not forget that in France alone there are around a hundred personalities under guard due to Islamic threats. Without considering the large number of attacks that are foiled. If you connect all these dots you come to understand how much life has changed here.

How is it possible that, apart from a few isolated voices, there is no one to denounce these threats?

The truth is that we are blinded by an ideology of diversity that leads us to think that what is happening ultimately represents enrichment. But there is also a profound ignorance of the phenomenon and its extent. And then there is the fear of being considered Islamophobic and therefore racist.
