Contagions: does it make sense to swab everyone?

On the proposal of some microbiologists, the Scientific Technical Committee would be considering increasing the number of swabs from the current 75 / 100,000 to 300,000.

In the document of 24 August ( https://www.cdc.gov/coron…/2019-ncov/…/testing-overview.html ) the Center for Disease Control of Atlanta (CDC), the most prestigious and scientific institution in the world for the control of infectious diseases, clarifies that the swab should not be done to asymptomatic patients or to contacts of certain cases.

At the rate of 300 thousand a day, in 6 months we would have tested the entire Italian population. It is useless, both because the outcome could change over a few days or hours, in the event of contact with an infected person, and because it presents us with a dilemma: if we were all positive, even the asymptomatic, should we close everything? If we had 3-4% of the positive Italian population what would we do? It makes no sense: you have to live with this virus, not be terrified of it. Vo 'Euganeo's model cannot be extended to the entire country. In that case, a country of 3,000 souls was isolated and tested, fewer than those who work at the San Martino hospital in Genoa. Italy is not Vo '. Not to mention the effects in terms of immediate costs to perform the swabs and in the long term on an economy already on its knees.

It is important to have the opportunity and resources available to get to do a lot of swabs for screening activities, but there is no point in planning to test all of them.
Also on this I think as the Deputy Minister of Health @pierpaolosilleri: I have the strength and the resources to be able to do them, but I don't have to do them at all costs.
When to swab?
The tampon in the case of symptomatic people, where isolation is required until complete healing.
The swab system must be a tool ready to intercept new outbreaks or travelers from high-risk countries, but it makes no sense to track indiscriminately.
And at school? If we wanted to be sure that nobody has the virus we would have to swab everyone, every day: it's impossible.
