Enough lies. The cures denied against Covid do not exist

Enough lies. The cures denied against Covid do not exist

The post by Enrico Bucci, Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, adjunct professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, author of the book "Bad Scientists"

(Post taken from Prof. Bucci's Facebook profile)

Treatment denied.

They do not exist. Get over it, research is done on everything, and especially for what is most popular among those who say that you don't want to do research.
In the figure, you can see the number of clinical trials conducted for the 30 most tested anti-Covid-19 treatments.
On the podium:
in first place, hydroxychloroquine (165 clinical studies);
it follows the plasma of convalescents (129 clinical studies);
then ivermectin (89 trials clinical trials).
All the others follow at a distance.
What have been the documented outcomes of the use of these drugs so far? We can resort to Cochrane's meta-analyzes, that is, the combined analysis of published studies by the most prestigious institution dedicated to this.
I will use the "key messages" section, translating it in full.

HYDROXYCHLOROKINE

Hydroxychloroquine does not reduce deaths from Covid-19 and likely does not reduce the number of people needing mechanical ventilation.
Hydroxychloroquine caused more side effects than a placebo treatment, although it did not appear to increase the number of serious side effects.
We do not think that new hydroxychloroquine studies should be launched for the treatment of Covid-19.

CONVALESCENT PLASMA

We are very confident that convalescent plasma has no benefit for treating people with moderate to severe Covid-19.
We are unsure of the effects of convalescent plasma for treating people with mild Covid-19 or who have no symptoms.
We found about 130 ongoing, unpublished and recently published studies. We will update our review with evidence from these studies as soon as possible. New evidence may answer our remaining questions.

IVERMECTIN

We found no evidence to support the use of ivermectin for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19 infection, but available data are limited.
The evaluation of ivermectin is continuing in 31 ongoing studies and we will update this review with their results when they become available.

CONCLUSIONS

Using any of the three drugs listed today, administering it or prescribing it to others is risky and contrary to scientific evidence.
As long as there are no positive and solid results, it means playing with one's own health or that of others.
If and when there is evidence of efficacy capable of modifying current results, they are welcome; today those who say they have positive and solid proofs lie.
PLEASE NOTE:
1) If the Cochrane analysis were updated to the latest publications available, the data against the three drugs listed would be worse.
2) Who produces other analyzes, discordant from these, is asked first to justify the statistical method of analysis used, and to write to me in private, not here.
3) Soon, a special on all investigational treatments, including those approved.
