THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE SECTORS

Each sector contributes differently. Of those 51.9 million, in fact, about 56.7% is due to electronic communications, 17.5% to postal services, 6.5% to daily and periodical publishing, 16.6% to the TV sector and 2.6% to network operators and infrastructure managers for broadcasting the radio and television signal.

GOOD TV, BAD PUBLISHING

Numbers, those above, which hide the crisis in the communications sector, which saw revenues (2015-2019) drop by 5.8% and in the publishing sector, which marked -8.8%.

The revenues of network operators and infrastructure managers grew by 17.3%, those of postal services by 11.5% and those of television by 3.3%.

Apart from revenues, in 2019, the gross operating margin (Ebitda) and the net operating profit (Ebit) and the operating result are higher than in 2018 and 2015. "Daily and periodical publishing and electronic communications appear to be characterized by lower profitability ratios, with an operating result that in the last 5 years is on average negative and equal, respectively, to -1.8% and -0.6% of revenues ”, reads the Agcom report.

THE REDUCTION OF EMPLOYMENT

However, the number of employees dropped to 226,840 in 2019, with a decrease of about 24,830 employees. And if the single sector, the publishing sector shows the highest percentage of reduction (-11.4%), the postal services sector is the most affected, with a reduction in employment equal to about 15,500 units.

THE CAPITALIZATION

The capitalization from 2015 to 2019, on the other hand, shows a certain stability, explains Agcom, “with an average index value of 22.4%. The sector of network operators and infrastructure managers is the one with the greatest capitalization among those of institutional interest of the Authority (66.8%). For publishing, electronic communications and the television sector, the ratio between equity and third-party capital is around or higher than 30%, while this indicator is considerably lower for companies operating in the postal services sector and by express courier (8.5%) ".
