The multi-year program refers to the start of a plan for the supply and replenishment of guided ammunition (Long Range) of the Vulcano 127 mm type for use on board the Fremm class Naval Units in the General Purpose (6 Units) and Patrol class versions multipurpose offshore (7 units).
In particular, the program is in fact the natural continuation of the program already authorized by the SMD decree 05/2009 relating to the development and industrialization of the Vulcano 127 mm ammunition, as stated in the Multiannual Program Document for Defense (Dpp) 2020-2022 .
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY OTO MELARA
The acquisition of the stocks will allow the naval units of the Navy to have ammunition of improved range and accuracy, both as regards the use against surface naval targets, and in the support and protection of the maneuvering forces on the ground.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
In relation to the duration of the program, it was expected to start in 2020 and complete in 2029 (ten-year duration).
THE COST RELATED TO THE FIRST PHASE
The cost of the first phase, which is the subject of the draft decree approved yesterday, is estimated at 88.05 million euros from the budget of the Ministry of Defense. And, in particular, on the resources brought by the fund referred to in article 1 paragraph 95 of the 2019 budget law.
THE TOTAL BURDEN
The DPP 220 – 2022 also indicates that the overall cost of the program is 139.05 million euros.
