Oppositions looking for influencers

Oppositions looking for influencers

Antivannacci wanted. But it is not Gino Cecchettin or the Scala protester who can help the opposition. Battista Falconi's comment

The left, or rather the opposition (between the Pd and 5 Star, subjects who cannot be defined with this term have migrated, only because they have not found a place in the majority) highlight a problem, or rather two. Better still, the problems are common to the entire political class but the party that currently governs Italy has resolved both thanks to the leader in office.

In fact, Giorgia Meloni manages to fulfill both the needs of the boss and that of the influencer. On the one hand, it is necessary to know how to do politics, develop contents, projects, drawings and try to translate them into facts; on the other hand we must accommodate the hypermedia society in which we live. That the Prime Minister pursues a strategy is not questionable: one can contest her line but not deny that she is trying to impose it, she certainly does not lack ambition. As regards popularity, it is even clearer from the analyzes of polls and comments, although not always reliable, that the famous honeymoon with the Italians is far from over and that the president's ability to arouse emotions appears intact.

Looking at the opposition, we are at almost absolute zero. In terms of political strategy, one makes a living by seizing opportunities moment by moment. That of the minimum wage was one of the most attractive, for example, but usually we limit ourselves to attacking on the basis of individual incidents (Lollobrigida train or Valditara consultants), while the effectiveness of protests against government action is much more weak. Even as regards communication, the oppositions have no gurus, masters, solid references and run after those that the news puts in front of them.

Also given the cohabitation between Giuseppe Conte and Elly Schlein, forced and evidently unwelcome to both, dem and pentastellati are in short looking for an "antivannacci". Of a character like the general in the 2023 best seller, foreign to the parties and who acts as a reference in civil society, a caterpillar, a deminer to carry forward in the treacherous swamp in which everyone is moving. The last two co-opted in the role are Gino Cecchettin and Marco Vizzardelli. The Warholian moment of notoriety of the second, the man who shouted "Long live anti-fascist Italy" at La Scala before the start of Don Carlo, seems to have already ended, after the attempt to make him a martyr for having been identified, as obviously with anyone who starts shouting in a place where representatives of the institutions are present (Libero noted this, with the wicked joke “Clowns at work).

Giulia's father has instead become the hero, the emblem of the anti-patriarch, the solid, strong but inclusive man, welcoming, empathetic and resilient, to use the most fashionable adjectives. Of course, it is difficult not to admire the courage with which he faced this tragedy, but it is not enough to save him from the whirlwind of multimedia. The controversy began on social media, with keyboard lions annoyed by the man's excessive composure, by the lack of mistakes in the way he processes mourning, transforming it into a battle cry against any form of violence and discrimination against women ( the engineer's lawyer seems intent on suing). And they exploded in the newspapers with the announcement of the presence at "Che tempo che fa", in a transversal way: from Giornale to Fatto , where Selvaggia Lucarelli accuses Giuli's father and sister of betraying the promise "not to use voracious microphones".

It would be better to observe everyone more silently, considering that shortly before the death of his daughter, which is presumed to be the most severe pain to endure in life, Cecchettin suffered the death of his wife. When fate plays these jokes of dubious taste, life becomes fierce and places certain one-twos in the pit of the stomach, we lose our breath and it is inevitable to cling to the first handhold. Only those who pass by can really understand this and the three boys who died in a road accident come to mind, one of whom had recently lost a brother in similar circumstances.

Instead Luigi Manconi proposes "Giulia and Giulio families courage" (Cecchettin and Regeni, obviously) and the democratic leader hypothesizes of replicating the gesture of the anti-fascist music lover around Italy, exploiting the tactic of protest at the institutional moment which however is not new , it is enough to remember the "Viva Verdi" that was shouted at La Scala to support the Risorgimento movements, and indeed it appears stale, like the environmentalist blitzes of paint in waterways or on monuments and interruptions of homilies, where they sometimes find celebrants consenting. Precisely the fate of the Church and ecologists reminds us of how illusory it is to exploit occasional celebrities, at a time when even the multi-thousand-year-old ones are now residual (Bergoglio, with the utmost respect, is the CEO of a company on the verge of bankruptcy for which the financing affair Casarini certainly doesn't benefit) and the green that seemed to take the place of the red socialist utopia fades together with the icon of Greta: the paradoxical outcome of Cop28 attests to what the real situation is.

However, the opposition does not give up. After the conviction of Mario Roggero, the jeweler from Grinzane for whom La Verità organized a fundraiser, Gramellini hosts the "good jeweller", in a paean and monotonous broadcast which has the merit of definitively nullifying the excuse of cross-examination, unbearable by who doesn't like talk shows. A thousand other deserving figures remain in the background silence. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to Narges Mohammadi in Oslo, but the ferocity of the Iranian regime against freedom and women is not newsworthy. Who knows why, or rather: without any reason.
