Despite the European Union sanctions against Russia and despite the choices made up to now by the Biden administration, Moscow is moving with a strategy aimed at countering and containing American global hegemony on the global chessboard.
Let's start our review by starting with the Arctic competition.
The geopolitical competition between Russia and America on the Arctic continues unabated. In fact, the military maneuvers known as the Arctic challenge involving the United States, Finland, Sweden and Norway led to a harsh reaction from the Russian embassy in the United States. The purpose of these exercises is to train the armed forces of the countries involved to achieve a military synergy in which the Swedish military infrastructure – Luleå-Kallax -, Finns – Rovaniemi – and Norwegians – Bodø and Ørland – will play a fundamental role.
As regards specifically the American participation, this will include the use of the Marine Corps and in particular of 10 multi-role F / A-18 fighters.
As for the alliances implemented by Russia, they are moving towards strengthening in the Indo-Chinese direction. In this regard, in fact, the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, on 9 June, during the Primakov Readings conference, underlined the importance of the 20th anniversary of the bilateral agreement with India and China known as the "Treaty of good neighborhood and friendly cooperation "signed in July 2001.
On the one hand, the strategic strengthening of the Sino-Russian axis will serve to counter American global hegemony but on the other hand it will also serve to counterbalance the EU policy which has aligned itself on the same wavelength as the American one.
Specifically, as regards the Indo-Russian collaboration on the military front, it should not be forgotten that Su-30 jet fighter planes were produced in India, BrahMos missiles were designed and projects were started for the production of 200 Ka helicopters. -226T. On the front of military deterrence, but also of its strengthening, Russia is moving. This is demonstrated, on the one hand, by the fact that on 10 June the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed the exercise of the Pacific fleet – an exercise that will involve 20 warships but also submarines – and, from the on the other hand, that the Tupolev Aircraft Company is developing the next generation strategic bomber which should be able to strengthen the protection of the aircraft through the modernization of electronic warfare technology.
In addition, the presence of strategic cruise missiles, precision bombs and hypersonic weapons will allow the next generation strategic bomber to implement an effective deterrence strategy.
