Take the case of Banca Popolare di Bari, commissioned in December 2019 after decades of mismanagement linked to the Jacobini family and then rescued by Mediocredito centrale with the support of the Interbank Deposit Protection Fund. In recent weeks, some trade union organizations of the institute have formed a civil party in the process concerning the old management. These are First Cisl and Fisac Cgil.
These two organizations for decades have enjoyed a substantial "exclusivity" on membership cards. In fact, the news reports in recent days refer to a sort of company "stratagem": the new hires were presented, together with the employment contract, the application form for those two initials. It does not escape anyone that the cards offered on the silver platter by the company can be used to massage the counterpart. A system, that of union registrations at the same time as recruitment, which has worked like a Swiss watch since the early 1980s for a few decades, or the period in which the bank was brought to ruin with an anomalous growth mechanism and busted accounts, now at the center of judicial inquiries and trials. The fact is that none of the union representatives has ever noticed anything or – another hypothesis – turned away and did not report anything. Exponential growth of shareholders, self-determined share value at the meeting, coupled transactions, easy loans, bad debts first hidden and then exploded on the balance sheets: no one has seen anything.
We were talking about hypocrisy: First Cisl and Fisac Cgil – from hard and pure acronyms – have formed a civil party in the trials against the Jacobini family. Actually, at the moment, Fisac does not appear to have followed up on the announcement of 20 July. One wonders, however, why those organizations that today point the finger at the Jacobinis have never raised even a finger before, when probably at the union tables they waged war with water guns, leaving their hands free to ' company in personnel management.

To say: in October 2007, the then general secretary of Fisac CGIL in Puglia, an employee of the Banco di Napoli, left Fisac CGIL and became head of staff at PopBari. The relationship between the institute and the Fisac was very close: Franco Errico was for years the deputy general secretary of Fisac of the Puglia region and his son Gaetano is at the same time the head of the Fisac of PopBari and an employee of the same institute with the degree of managerial staff. According to rumors, Errico asked some people from Foggia for help to stop the bleeding of members. But the "system", as revealed in these days by the newspaper La Verità , was also made up of promotions to the trade unionists themselves, very few for contractual automatisms, almost all for a theoretical merit or for results achieved in the field by those who, however, by virtue of union permits worked on a narrow gauge.

The new course has now begun and more than anyone is wondering about the ability of these workers' representatives to be able to deal with the current summit and be up to par with hair on their stomachs. Gianni De Gennaro was called to the presidency. One who in the past has helped to convince the superboss mafia Tommaso Buscetta to return from the United States to Italy to unravel the details of the Cosa Nostra (giving way to the maxi trial in Palermo in 1985); one who was, among other things, Chief of Police, Undersecretary of the Government with responsibility for services, president of Leonardo, former Finmeccanica (a group owned by the Treasury and active in the field of defense and aerospace). For some days there has been rumors of an imminent update of the industrial plan, with new cuts and new redundancies. We will see at the first trade union meeting if the usual "well-known person" will have the courage to record the meeting, having it disclosed in the area as it does not know how to make peace because it no longer counts and has lost an avalanche of members. And many employees and trade unionists are curious, then, to wait for the interrogations of the Jacobini family which during the trial could shed light on decades of relations between the company and the internal unions of the Popolare di Bari.
