What will happen to Dema

What will happen to Dema

The speech by Michele Zanocco, national secretary of Fim Cisl
The meeting was held last Friday, convened by the Ministry of Economic Development, with the aim of updating the trade unions and workers on the solutions to be taken to avoid the closure of the Demas.

During the meeting, the Undersecretary of Mise , Todde, announced that a Development Contract will be activated (possible after the refinancing of € 500 million provided for by the Simplification Decree) supported by Invitalia which will allow, through support for the investments that will be promoted by company, to promote a debt restructuring process and respond to the requests of all creditors, including INPS.

The Fim Cisl considers the solution identified to be able to overcome the issue of restructuring the company's debt and considers the solution identified by the Ministry of Economic Development to be positive.

We also believe it is essential to start discussions between the company, trade unions and workers' representatives on the Industrial Plan, in the awareness that the economic and market repercussions deriving from the pandemic are heavily negatively affecting the entire sector throughout the world.

And we reiterate that the Business Plan that will be presented must protect current employment through the use of all the tools available and avoid traumatic actions against workers, orienting Dema's activities towards growth and the adaptation of skills; the correct focus of investments, the strengthening of commercial actions, the expansion of the perimeters of customers and activities. This is to prepare the company and workers for the recovery phase (which will take place consciously in the medium term) with the necessary solidity to face the future.

Like Fim Cisl, we also ask that in the Dema Business Plan also provide for the recovery of DCM workers even through the inclusion, at this stage, in the path of social safety nets because, on the contrary, they would risk being definitively excluded from the world of work at the end of the Cassa. Extraordinary integration in progress for cessation of activity.

Within ten days, a new meeting will be convened by the Ministry of Economic Development to confirm the solution described and start the discussion requested by the trade unions.
